The "Alma" Experience
"You don't go to Alma to be average!" This is a common phrase heard on Alma's campus. It's true, most students at Alma College are extremely involved on campus and in the community. Alma is a prestigious school and much of my time was dedicated to being successful academically and achieving a cumulative grade point average of 3.3.
Greek Life at Alma also gave me many unique opportunities. During my time as an active member of Alpha Xi Delta, I fundraised for our Relay for Life team, organized and designed a Dr. Seuss themed recruitment, served as the Recruitment Chair on the Panhellenic Council, and participated in numerous "Play Days." Play Days are Sunday afternoons dedicated to spending time with Autistic children and their families. With Autism Speaks as my women's fraternity's Philanthropy, we were constantly raising awareness and funds for the research of Autism. I will continue to be an advocate for Autistic children and their families for the rest of my life! Outside of the classroom I participated in the Varsity Volleyball Program as well as dedicated time and enthusiasm as a captain on the Women's Varsity Lacrosse Team. Prior to attending Alma, I was awarded a Vocal Scholarship to be a member of the Alma College Choir Program. I received this scholarship every year with my continued participation until graduation. |
