Post Graduation
The past couple years of "post-grad" life have been quite a whirl wind. I hit what felt like a dead end in my career path when I decided that classroom teaching was not for me. Student teaching showed me that it takes a specific person to be a school teacher and I was not up for that particular challenge at this time in the Education world.
I've now had experience in Camp Administration, Zumba Instruction, Childcare, Event Planning, a little Social Media Marketing, and coaching. I am not 100% sure where I am supposed to be, but I know I don't have to be. God has a plan and I can't wait to see how my compassion, spirit, and love for people fit into it.
The real whirlwind of my life after graduation, was the loss of several family members; it seemed like all at once. The losses that severely affected me were the losses of my godmother and grandmother. My aunt and godmother lost her life to complications with Lung Cancer. A couple months later, my grandmother also lost a short and aggressive fight with Lung Cancer. These women were strong, confident, and intelligent role models.
Nana was a statue of confidence and taught her grandchildren to not only be confident in themselves, but to be someone other's can be confident in. She lead by example and proved that you are never too old- or young- to learn. My Aunt Leigh taught me that love is something you should never with hold from anyone and that forgiveness is a large part of loving others. She was a strong and fiery woman with so much to give. She gave her time, enthusiasm, and love in volunteering, raising her daughters, and being my godmother. I live LEIGHstrong in memory of these women!
What has kept me motivated and moving during the last couple years is my faith in God, my close family and friends, and my belief that everything happens for a reason.
